Hello! Thank you for visiting.
My name is Alia Katz. I am excited to be your 6th grade teacher at Sonora Elementary this year. I received my Associates degree in Liberal Studies with emphasis in elementary school teaching, from Columbia College, and graduated with honors in Spring of 2013. I received my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and multiple-subject teaching credential and graduated Magna Cum Laude in the Spring of 2016.
I've lived in many places. This includes Kauai, Hawaii and Santa Cruz, California. I've been in Sonora for about 17 years and am proud to call this beautiful place my home. Living in these diverse biospheres gave me a passion for the sciences, which I'm excited to share this school year.
My husband and I have three sons; they are 19, 16 and 14. We have one cat, and two dogs. I enjoy reading, learning new things, helping others learn, playing the guitar, singing, and spending time with family. I am proud to be a participant of Tuolumne County Superintendent of School's Dinner with a Scientist, Mad About Science, and Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO).
I feel very privileged to work with such fantastic students, parents, and fellow educators at SES. I hope to inspire my students and others to reach beyond what they think is possible.
